College Ministry News – Week of January 29, 2012

January 29th, 2012

Let me remind you to welcome Justin Rucker (Quitaque, TX) as Buffs for Christ’s intern. Justin and his wife Savannah (Turkey, TX) are enjoying the Bible Chair apartment and have already been a tremendous help this semester. Also, please note that Jordan Reece (Canyon, TX) and Grant Spruell (Shallowater, TX) are living in the Bible Chair dorm this spring, and serving as our resident groundskeepers.

As usual, Buffs for Christ will be hosting a Sweetheart Banquet this February. Please save the date of February 9, and please contact Becky if you would like to attend. Also, so you know, this semester our students and staff will travel to Oklahoma (Campus Encounter, Feb. 17-19) and Houston (spring break mission trip, March 10-17), and they will participate in the fourth annual Give-A-Goat / Shack-A-Thon (April 18). We welcome your participation—in person, in prayer, or both! Please let Justin, Becky, or I know how you might like to plug in.

Finally, sign-up lists will be in the foyer TODAY after services for anyone wanting to serve college students by providing 1) Life Group Meals, 2) Stuff the Buffs, and/or 3) Sunday AM Casseroles.

Thank you, and may we all keep in mind the 2011-12 Buffs for Christ theme (“Selfless”) this spring: “He must become greater; I must become less.” (John 3:30)

Youth News – Week of January 29, 2012

January 29th, 2012

Sunday – In the Junior High we looked at testing ourselves to see if we are following the will of God in our lives.  The High School continues to look through the book of Genesis and the interesting stories there.  Don’t forget about this our Sunday evening studies as well!

Monday – We are ready to begin two things – Monday Meals and Monday Night Devotional.  Devotional will be at the Browne’s house (211 T-Anchor View – 656-0503).  Be there at 8 p.m. and we will be done around 9.

Wednesday – Huddles are off to a good start.  Our huddle leaders do a good job at revealing what the texts say.  I hope you enjoy them as well.

Thursday – We will have our first Junior High Devotional of the semester this Thursday.  It will be from 7-8:30 at the Parker’s house (19600 Hunter’s Run – 488-2384).  I hope to see you guys there.

Opportunity Camp – It is time to begin collecting items for our Opportunity (Houston) Mission Trip with the High School.  Last year we had 39 kids show up so we want to plan for 45 just in case.  So, we will need 45 towels, washcloths, and fleece blankets (hopefully the blankets are on sale right now!).  Please bring those items to the church.
